Technical Excursion to the Sosnogorsk Gas Processing Plant
The Sosnogorsk plant is the first gas processing plant of Russia and one of the oldest industrial enterprises in the Komi republic, dated back to 1941.
Today, the Sosnogorsk GPP is a Russian leader in production of carbon black, used as an active filler in rubbers, paint-and-lacquer coatings, printing inks, plastics, and other composite materials, and also applied in metallurgical processes and some special manufacturing. High-efficiency production allows getting almost 100% recovery of all valuable components from the Vuktyl gas (propane, butane, and C5+).
In addition to carbon black grades, produced according to GOST 7885–86, the Sosnogorsk GPP manufactures carbon black grades N990, N991, N762, N772, N774 for export (according to International Classification System). Carbon black is shipped in various types of packaging (big bags, valve-bag packages) as required by specific customers, including the countries of Eastern and Western Europe, South-East Asia, China, Canada, the USA.
The quality management system and environmental management system are certified by the international certification body Qualityaustria in compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. In 2011, BS OHSAS 18001 certification was obtained in occupational health and safety.
