Museum of gas science history and technologies of Gazprom VNIIGAZ LLC

Museum of gas science history and technologies of Gazprom VNIIGAZ LLC opened in October 2008 to commemorate the Institute’s 60^th anniversary. Through collection of historical documents and unique representational concept, the museum chronicles origination, start-up and development of the Russian and the global gas science and technologies, and its current state. It fosters broadening of scientific and historical knowledge, corporate dignity and esteem for profession.

Extensive museum exhibition traces the whole gas route from subsurface to consumers. It tells what is the difference between field development in ХХ century and today, how scientific ideas become world-class inventions, what are pipeline protection principles, what can gas provide besides an effective fuel, what nanotechnologies are used in gas industry.

Museum staff has an extensive experience in arranging vocational excursions for primary, secondary, and senior school, college and high school students, including students from abroad. Museum organizes introduction tours and quests for different age groups.

Only group visit is allowed on the authority of a letter to the attention of the Institute’s General Director.

Geological museum of Gazprom VNIIGAZ LLC branch office in Ukhta

Geological museum was founded in 2005 at the initiative of Vladimir Nikolaevich Danilov, the employee of the branch office and PhD in geology and mineralogy.

Museum displays over 1000 exhibit items, which include minerals and rocks collected in Russia and abroad, oil and core samples from the fields of Timano-Pechora oil and gas bearing province, paleontological findings: ancient corals, remains of prehistoric shellfish and marine arthropods, fossilized plant fragments.

Museum’s mission is to tell about geological science in layman’s terms. Thus, excursion turns into engaging trip over the history of Timano-Pechory, beginning from times when it was covered by an ancient ocean till now. Students and seniors learn basic geology, physical and chemical crust processes that lead to formation of fossil minerals, and become familiar with such sciences as mineralogy and paleontology. The littlest can take part in small tours telling about the nature of the Earth, interesting contests and master classes.
